Sonoma Valley Pride Celebrates City of Sonoma Proclamation Declaring June as Pride Month
SONOMA, CA — Sonoma Valley Pride is honored to share that the City of Sonoma has officially proclaimed the month of June as Pride Month, recognizing and celebrating the LGBTQIA+ community in Sonoma Valley.
The proclamation was presented during a recent Sonoma City Council meeting and offered a meaningful public dedication to the visibility, belonging, resilience, and contributions of LGBTQIA+ people in our community. For Sonoma Valley Pride, this recognition is more than a symbolic gesture. It is a powerful reminder that queer people, families, youth, elders, artists, business owners, and allies are an essential part of the fabric of Sonoma Valley.
“We are deeply grateful to the City of Sonoma for this proclamation and for standing with our LGBTQIA+ community,” said Sonoma Valley Pride. “Moments like this matter. They help create a stronger sense of belonging, especially for young people and community members who need to see that they are recognized, valued, and supported right here at home.”
Community members are encouraged to watch the dedication and City Council meeting through the City of Sonoma’s public meeting portal.
This proclamation comes as Sonoma Valley Pride prepares for its largest Pride celebration yet, taking place June 12–14, 2026, with a full weekend of events centered on queer joy, visibility, community, art, music, and belonging. This year’s theme, We Rise With Pride, reflects the strength and beauty that emerge when a community comes together in support of one another.
Sonoma Valley Pride invites residents, businesses, families, and visitors to join in celebrating Pride Month throughout June and to take part in the upcoming weekend of Pride events.
