Sonoma Valley Pride Celebrates Successful Pride on the Plaza Festival
Sonoma, CA — Sonoma Valley Pride is celebrating the success of its Pride on the Plaza Music and Arts Festival, held Sunday, June 14, on Sonoma Plaza.
The free community festival welcomed more than 500 people to the heart of Sonoma for an afternoon of visibility, celebration, creativity, and belonging. LGBTQIA+ community members, allies, families, artists, performers, local businesses, civic leaders, and visitors gathered together for a joyful day rooted in community connection.
Sonoma Valley Pride is also thrilled to have the event featured in the Sonoma Index-Tribune, which captured photos from the day and helped highlight the power of local Pride in Sonoma Valley.
This year’s festival featured live music, drag performances, inspiring speakers, local artists and makers, food, wine, family-friendly activities, and community organizations. The gathering reflected Sonoma Valley Pride’s 2026 theme, We Rise With Pride, honoring the resilience, creativity, and joy of the LGBTQIA+ community while creating a welcoming space for all.
“Our goal has always been gathering,” said Matthew Long, co-founder of Sonoma Valley Pride. “Pride is about visibility, but it is also about creating spaces where people feel safe, celebrated, and connected. Seeing more than 500 people come together on the Plaza with so much love, support, and joy was incredibly meaningful.”
Sonoma Valley Pride extends its gratitude to the performers, speakers, volunteers, sponsors, vendors, community partners, and everyone who attended and helped make the festival possible. The organization also thanks the City of Sonoma, local businesses, nonprofit partners, and community members who continue to show up in support of queer joy, safety, and visibility.
“Events like this do not happen because of one person or one organization,” Long added. “They happen because a community decides that belonging matters. We are deeply grateful to everyone who helped make this year’s Pride on the Plaza such a beautiful success.”
Sonoma Valley Pride will continue building on the momentum of this year’s celebration with future events, partnerships, and community programming.
